Since 2017, a group of volunteers have been helping maintain, clean, spread mulch, enhance, and keep the park an inviting place for both our
4-legged and 2-legged family and friends. In 2021, the group officially formed and became Friends of the Peekskill Dog Park. Our mission is to continue the efforts that were started many years ago and continue to enhance the Peekskill Dog Park, keep it free for everyone, keep up basic maintenance, and work in conjunction with the City of Peekskill to make the Peekskill Dog Park a premier dog park destination.
Friends of the Peekskill Dog Park has many goals both large and small.
In the very near future we will begin fundraising campaigns to help with the costs of new amenities such as a new shelter, a kiosk for events at the dog park and in the community, more mutt mitt dispensers and many more. Much larger and longer projects include expanding of the dog park and possibly creating a third section to become a more natural park using the existing natural elements of the trees, rocks and boulders for all of the dogs to enjoy. Another long term goal is to create walking paths and/or trails throughout the entire Tompkins/Beecher Park ultimately connecting the 3 separate areas, the Little League fields, the Dog Park and the Tompkins Park Playground with these trails.
We are fundraising for the above improvements and there are many ways you can get involved to help:
